Free Time

The best way to learn a foreign language is to fully immerse yourself in the culture of the country and discover its true essence, behind the tourist cliches. Sicily has a great deal to offer and much to discover. In fact the island will astonish you with its thousands of years of history, its unique artistic heritage and its rich traditions, which still bear the marks of all the many cultures which have flourished in its soil. These free time activities are as important as the Italian course itself. We believe that the study of a language does not finish at the end of the lesson and for this reason one of our teachers will always accompany you during all our planned activities. He/she will not only have a deep knowledge of the history of the island, but will also know how to communicate with students and how to use the Italian language in different ways, so that all students, at whatever level of ability, can understand it. Every Monday, we hold an introductory session with coffee for new students, where we go through the proposed programme of activities in which you can all take part. There will be different activities every day of the week.

Sicily between past and present

The extensive archaelogical legacy of Sicily is unique, so much so that the island has been called ‘an open-air museum’. We offer visits to the most famous sites, and also some lesser known, but equally fascinating, ones. Guided visits to the most artistically important cities, where you will not only see the great works of art but also some little-known local features.

A Dip into Nature

Surrender to the natural beauty of Sicily, by hiking in the Madonia Mountain Park, where you will discover a different and unexpected side to the island: verdant and impressive scenery, bewitching views and rare botanical specimens. Alternatively, take a boat trip along the coast, to discover its beaches, rocky headlands, bays and caves. Other fascinating ways of appreciating the natural beauty of the island are horse-back rides or mountain bike tours.

A Taste of Cefalù

Enjoy an evening [no sunsets in the afternoon!!!] together on the sea-front, admiring the splendid sunsets of Cefalu, while sampling the best wines and an ample selection of the finest, typical Sicilian foods. At the same time, you will be able to chat to the teacher who will accompany you. We will prepare an authentic Sicilian meal at the home of a family in Cefalu: you will begin by picking vegetables from the vegetable garden; then we will gather together in the kitchen and discover how Sicilians cook and eat, while at the same time practising Italian with Italians.

With Hands and Eyes

One afternoon, you can take the opportunity to model in clay and create, under the guidance of an expert ceramicist, your own personal memento to take home with you. Alternatively, with a professional photographer, you can become acquainted with the most beautiful and evocative corners of Cefalu, and learn to select the best framing angles and light conditions, to compose perfect photos of your holiday.

Afternoons at School

You can also take part in afternoon meetings at the school, with informal chat, in order to learn more about Italian culture, literature, history, cinema and music… and even the famous Italian gestures. There are also conversation sessions, during which students can get to know each other better, and talk together socially, with some teacher involvement.

Sporty Type?

If you are normally an active, fit person, do you want to continue your favourite sport on holiday? Or even start a new one? In Cefalu you have the opportunity to combine your Italian course with various sporting activities: tennis, basketball, scuba diving, yoga, horse-riding and road or mountain biking.
